Havana, October 13 (RHC-ACN)-- Delegations from Cuba and Slovenia have reiterated both their governments' willingness to strengthen bilateral relations in several areas.
According to a press release issued by the Cuban embassy in Austria, the third meeting of the political consultation mechanism between the ministries of Foreign Affairs of Cuba and Slovenia was held Tuesday in Ljubljana, capital of that European country.
During the exchange, the two sides reviewed the state of bilateral ties. The Cuban delegation thanked Slovenia for its constructive stance in the framework of relations between Cuba and the European Union, as well as for its support of the resolution the Caribbean country presents every year at the UN General Assembly against the U.S. blockade policy.
The Slovenian delegation expressed its support for the prompt signing of an agreement on political dialogue and cooperation between Cuba and the European Union.
During the meeting both sides also agreed to strengthen bilateral ties in sectors like trade, the economy and culture.
The mechanism of political consultation between the ministries of Foreign Affairs of Cuba and Slovenia was set up in 2011. Diplomatic relations between Cuba and Slovenia were established in 1992.
