Havana, November 14 (RHC-PL)-- The 18th Pan-Arab Congress concluded over the weekend in the Cuban capital with the approval of a final statement and the designation of Cuban scholar Alfredo Deriche as President of the Federation of American-Arab Entities.
Deriche, who is the President of the Cuba-Arab Association, mentioned among the group's immediate tasks actions toward strengthening friendship and cooperation ties among nations that make up the Pan-Arab Community.
The two-day Havana congress was attended by delegates from Cuba, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador and Nicaragua, who reaffirmed their respect for the objectives and principles upon which the organization was created in October 1973.
The Final Declaration acknowledges the huge contribution to humanity by Arab civilization, its culture, traditions and history, which are currently under threat due to misinformation and slander campaigns in the mainstream media.
The delegates approved 20 agreements, in which they condemned all forms of terrorism, discrimination, and religious intolerance. They urged a peaceful solution to conflicts and called for an end to aggressions against Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Libya, Lebanon and other Arab peoples.
