Ciego de Avila, February 11 (RHC-PL)– Organic charcoal produced in central Cuba continues to have a strong presence on European markets, where that artisanal Cuban product is known for its quality and its high caloric and energy value.
The central province of Ciego de Avila has for 11 years been exporting that alternative fuel to countries like Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, Syria, Turkey and Israel. More than 204,300 tonnes of the product have been shipped to those markets in recent years.
The Ceballos Agro-industrial Company, in Ciego de Avila, is the largest charcoal production plant of its kind in Cuba and boasts a highly skilled personnel.
A cargo of Cuban charcoal was also shipped to the United States in mid January, turning that Cuban artisanal, organic product into the first Cuban export to the U.S. market since the U.S. trade, economic and financial blockade against Cuba went into effect more than a half century ago.
