Havana, April 13 (RHC) -- The president of Cuba's International Hemingway Yacht Club, José Miguel Díaz Escrich, said that U.S. recreational sailors want to freely visit the Caribbean island and are calling on their government in Washington to lift travel restrictions against Cuba.

Diaz Escrich said that May 21st marks the 25th anniversary of the founding of this sports institution, which is being celebrated with various activities that include 18 navigation events with wide participation of U.S. citizens, who cannot visit Cuba as tourists, but are covered by 12 categories determined by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

The official said that the anniversary of the Club is an ideal time to demonstrate friendship, love of sports, sailing and peace among members of the International Hemingway Yacht Club.
