Havana, May 26 (RHC)-- Cuban publishing house Ciencias Sociales launched the book 'I Am Fidel: Political and Economic Thought' (Yo soy Fidel: Pensamiento económico y político), about the legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution and the validity of his political and economic thinking.
The 240-page work features various texts complied by Hero of the Republic of Cuba Ramón Labañino, one of the Cuban Five and by Luciano Vasapollo, Vice Dean of La Sapienza University in Italy. The book launching took place Thursday in Havana, on occasion of the 50th anniversary of the publishing house.
The new text compiles articles by Cuban economists, accountants, and journalists on Fidel Castro’s ideas regarding various contemporary issues.
According to Labañino, also vice president of the National Association of Cuban Economists and Accountants, the idea for the book emerged following Fidel’s death last November 25th, and the importance of preserving and disseminating his ideas.
He also noted that not all the articles in the book focus solely on economic issues, but also address Fidel’s thoughts on politics, science and humanism.
Meanwhile, Vasapollo highlighted the importance of the work for European readers, since it not only features Fidel Castro as an economist, but also the revolutionary figure, and a strong defender of cultural and human heritage.
