Cuba Elected to UNESCO's Executive Council

Paris, November 9 (RHC)-- Cuba was elected as a member of the Executive Council of the United Nation's Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), during the entity's 39th General Conference, taking place in Paris, France.

Cuba was one of six countries elected within the Latin America and Caribbean Group, along with Venezuela, Saint Vicent and The Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Jamaica and Grenada. 

The 39th UNESCO General Conference runs through November 14th. The meeting's agenda includes the confirmation of Audrey Azoulay as UNESCO's new General Director to replace outgoing Irina Bokova, who concludes a successful eight-year mandate.
