Havana, December 21 (RHC)-- The National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba agreed on Thursday to postpone the constitution of the IX Legislature until April 2018, as a result of the changes caused to the electoral timetable by Hurricane Irma.
The hurricane affected the planned activities in the electoral process for September, and had a direct impact on the term of office envisaged for the current provincial assemblies of the People's Power and the National Assembly.
The first would end on February 18th, and the second on February 24, 2018.
Taking into account this situation, it was proposed to extend the mandate of the provincial assemblies until March 25, and the Parliament until April 19 next year, reported the legislative house.
