Praia, February 6 (RHC)-- President of Cape Verde Jorge Carlos de Almeida Fonseca met with the Vice President of the Cuban State Council Mercedes López Acea on Monday in Praia, capital of the African nation.
The Cuban vice president took the opportunity to convey warm greetings from President Raúl Castro to his Cape Verdean counterpart.
During the meeting, the two sides renewed both their governments' determination to further advance friendship and cooperation relations.
While in Cape Verde, the Cuban vice president fulfilled a packed agenda that included meetings with the president of the country's National Assembly Jorge Mauricio dos Santos, Cape Verdean Prime Minister José Ulisses de Pina Correia e Silva and former President Pedro De Verona Rodrigues Pires, as well as with members of the association of solidarity with Cuba in Cape Verde and Cuban collaborators offering their services in the African country under existing cooperation programs in health and sports.
The current African tour of the Cuban vice president aims to reinforce the historical and friendship ties and solidarity between Cuba and Africa. It includes also visits to Equatorial Guinea, Ghana and Seychelles.
