Havana, March 31 (RHC) – Representatives from Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Multilateral Division and the International Committee of the Red Cross held consultations this week in Havana and reviewed their relations as part of their regular dialogue mechanism.
The Cuban delegation was headed by Deputy Director General for Multilateral Affairs and International Law, María del Carmen Herrera. Stephan Sakalian, Director of Operations for the Americas, chaired the visiting Red Cross mission.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry's website says that the meeting addressed broad international humanitarian issues, among them the consequences of the use of weapons and the need for their control, as well as the need for greater dissemination, awareness and respect of the norms and principles of international humanitarian law in the current world scenario.
Cuba and the Red Cross termed their bilateral relations positive, fruitful and reinforcing of their mutual cooperation.
