Havana, May 5 (RHC)-- The 2018 International Ophthalmology Congress concluded Saturday in Havana, with a debate on the way in which oncological injuries affect the optic system of the human body.
Saturday's agenda also included keynote lectures on the update in the anatomo-pathological diagnosis of basal carcinoma, and on a micrographic technique in malignant skin tumors.
Topics such as Neuro-vascular interventionism in pathologies with ophthalmologic repercussions, the use of the drug Heberferon in the basal carcinoma of the eyelids, and a new strategy for the treatment of macular degeneration associated with age were also discussed.
In previous sessions the delegates discussed current and future challenges in the specialty, and focused on topics such as childhood cataract, eye health and primary care, nursing care in the specialty, live surgery, and advances in and the future of the tissue and cell bank.
