Cuba´s Deputy Foreign Minister begins Caribbean tour

Havana, June 7 (RHC)-- Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rogelio Sierra Díaz, began a working visit to the Caribbean region on Wednesday, which will run through June 16.

In addition to Surinam, the tour includes Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica, the four Caribbean countries that established diplomatic relations simultaneously with Cuba on December 8, 1972.

Sierra Diaz´ agenda includes exchanges with authorities, with Cuban residents and Cuban state mission personnel stationed in those countries.

He will also hold working meetings with executives of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Association of Caribbean States (ACS).

According to the Foreign Ministry website, the tour seeks to reaffirm the historical relations with the region; exchange on topics of mutual interest and confirm Cuba´s willingness to continue its cooperation with the region.
