Havana, January 7 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel has reaffirmed the island's support for the people and government of Venezuela, and stressed that Latin America cannot become Washington's backyard again.
The Cuban president wrote in his Twitter account -- @DiazCanelB -- that “sovereignty of our nations is at stake in the position being taken on Venezuela. Supporting the legitimate right of that sister nation to decide her destiny is to defend the dignity of all. Our America cannot become again the Empire's backyard.”
Diaz-Canel, as well as the First Secretary of Cuba's Communist Party Raul Castro, have reiterated unconditional and ongoing support to the Bolivarian Revolution and demanded the end of the economic, political and media war being waged against the South American country.
President Nicolas Maduro will take office on January 10 for a new executive term until 1925 after he won re-election by a wide margin last May 20th.
