Havana, January 17 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel recalled on Wednesday the legacy of the intellectual, writer and revolutionary Ruben Martinez Villena (1899-1934) on the 85th anniversary of his death.
Villena is the paradigm of a young man with intense revolutionary convictions, humanist and advanced ideas about emancipation and social justice for his time. He knew how to express them in his authentic poetry, President Diaz Canel wrote in his social network account @DiazCanelB.
From a young age, Martinez Villena was associated with the fight against corruption and the surrender of the republican governments of Cuba.
In addition, he led the Protest of the Thirteen, a civic protest of young representatives of the Cuban intelligentsia against republican corruption.
