Havana, March 7 (RHC)—The 10th Congress of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) is continuing its work in plenary session, after an intense initial day of work in four committees.
Delegates will focus on the empowerment of Cuban women, gender equality, social and preventive work, linking women to the economic model and youth as a guarantee of continuity of the Revolution.
The FMC´s general secretary, Teresa Amarelle, participated in a committee convened at Havana´s Institute of Biotechnology. She highlighted to participants the role of Cuban women as defenders of the revolutionary process and called for multiplying actions to attract the new generations to be part of the organization, reports Prensa Latina.
“The organization´s main function is to exist and act from the base, from the community. I'm sure we can count on young women,' she said.
Delegates advocated for the expansion of the organization´s work in social media in order to repel efforts from different digital platforms aimed at tarnishing the image of the Cuban Revolution.
The Congress will end Friday with the election of the Federation´s new leadership and the issuing of a Declaration of solidarity with women of the world.
