British Royal couple concludes official visit to Cuba

Havana, March 27 (RHC) –Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall concluded their official visit to Cuba on Wednesday, where they toured sites of historical and cultural interest.

The royal couple visited the Molecular Immunology Center -- one of the island's most important medical research institutions -- on the last day of their visit.

On Tuesday, the Duchess of Cornwall met with senior representatives of the Federation of Cuban Women at the organization's headquarters, where they discussed issues related to equality and gender violence.   Meanwhile, Prince Charles inaugurated the construction of the first solar park located in the Mariel Special Development Zone. Upon completion it will contribute 50 megawatts to the National Power System. The project is being led by UK corporation Mariel Solar SA.

The royal couple also visited the John Lennon Park in Havana, where they met members of the British community in Havana, and members of a British motorcycles and classic cars club.  


Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez,received Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister of State for the Commonwealth and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  They addressed issues on the bilateral agenda in a cordial climate and verified the good state of relations, which is reflected in this first visit by the British royal family to Cuba.
