Havana, April 6 (RHC)-- With a tour of the Historic Center of Havana, the president of the General Assembly of the United Nations, María Fernanda Espinosa, concluded her official visit to Cuba.

On Thursday, Espinosa offered statements to Radio Havana Cuba, in which she described her visit to Cuba as fruitful, a country she considers an indispensable actor and ally of the multilateral system.

"It has been a fruitful visit, in which I have had an intense and complete agenda that ratifies that close cooperation relationship between the United Nations system and Cuba," she told reporters in Havana.

In the opinion of the former Ecuadorian foreign minister, the Caribbean island is indispensable for the strengthening of the multilateral system, because the United Nations "needs countries like this one."

During her visit to Cuba, Maria Fernanda Espinosa was received President Miguel Díaz-Canel.  At that meeting, both ratified the common will to strengthen the role of the multilateral organization in the preservation of peace and in the search for collective solutions to global problems.

As part of her stay in Havana, the former Ecuadorian foreign minister met with Cuba's top diplomat, Bruno Rodríguez, and spoke with students from the Higher Institute of International Relations.
