Holguin, May 31 (RHC)-- Cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez urged officials from Holguin to take advantage of the natural and human resources of the province.
The president met with local authorities after two days of work where he was accompanied by 26 ministers, vice ministers, and other government officials.
The delegation visited work centers and other facilities of vital importance for the development of Holguin, one of the main productive, tourism and industrial centers of the island.
During the conclusions of visit, the Cuban leader praised the progress made by the territory and he mentioned some of the main deficiencies that hinder the economic growth of the province, like investments. According to the Minister of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil, it must be executed in time and be evaluated for its productive results.
The president also criticized a group of 33 companies from the province that show high profits. He said that their results are not due to productive efficiency, but to poor planning, since commitments are made below their real possibilities and then they comply with plan with relative ease.
Holguin is the Cuban province that produces the largest amount of exports and currently has one of the largest investments in the tourism sector with the construction of new hotels in Guardalavaca beach, in the municipality of Gibara and the Ramon Peninsula, in Antilla Municipality.
