Havana, April 10 (RHC)-- The number of Cuban women who have joined agricultural work over the past few years has increased to 65 thousand 993, according to this morning's edition of Granma newspaper.
Statistics released by the National Small Famers Association (ANAP) reveal that the increasing number of women farmers goes along their growing participation in managing roles in different agricultural cooperatives.
The front-page article in this morning's edition of Granma newspaper points out that some 307 women were appointed to leading positions in such entities with successful results if compared to previous years.  An example of the significant role played by women in the agricultural sector was exposed in central Villa Clara province, where 52 percent of professional leaders in farms are women, said Neisy Santos, a woman who leads the farmers’ organization in the province. Santos is one of four women heading the campesino movement in four Cuban provinces.
