Moscow, April 28 (RHC),-- The Women's International Democratic Federation held a special session on Monday dedicated to the cause of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters, three of whom remain unjustly incarcerated in the United States.
The board of directors of the women's organization is meeting in Moscow through May 2nd. Debates are focusing on the world solidarity movement with the case of the Cuban Five, support for the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela and the demand for an end to Washington's warmongering policies, particularly on the Korean Peninsula.
The Women's International Democratic Federation (WIDF) is an international organization working for women's rights. It was founded in Paris in 1945 and the organization's secretariat is based in São Paulo, Brazil.
International Day for the Protection of Children, observed in many countries as Children's Day on June 1st since 1950, was established by the Federation during its November 1949 congress in Moscow.
Latin America is represented at the current meeting in Moscow by delegations of women's organizations from Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico and Venezuela.
