Havana, May 1 (RHC)-- The first round of negotiations towards a political and cooperation agreement between Cuba and the European Union concluded in Havana with positive results.
According to statements by both sides, the initial two-day meeting acheved the set goals of defining a roadmap and some organizational aspects of the dialogue process, with meetings alternatively in Havana and Brussels.
Christian Leffler, Managing Director for the Americas of the European External Action Service, told a press conference in Havana that the meeting provided a better understanding of the ideas, objectives and expectations of both Cuba and the European Unon.
The EU official stressed that the two sides shared common views on essencial aspects of the proposed future bilateral agreement on issues like governance, human rights, world politics, regional development and cooperation.
