Parliament Chief Presides Over May Day Rally in Santiago de Cuba

Santiago de Cuba, May 1 (RHC) -- The member of the Politburo of the Cuban Communist Party and Preident of the National Assembly of People's Power, Esteban Lazo, presided over celebrations in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba for the International Workers’ Day.

Representatives of the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution, trade unions and student organizations took part in the celebratory parade by sectors.

The General Secretary of the Confederation of Cuban Workers (CTC) in Santiago de Cuba, Maria de los Angeles Cordero, delivered the main words at the parade, urging workers to join the comprehensive renovations the Cuban economy is undertaking.

Standing next to the President of the National Assembly of the People’s Power were Lazaro Exposito, member of the Central Committee of the PCC and First Secretary in that province, other Communist Party and government leaders, as well as leaders of the CTC and youth and mass organizations.
