Havana, June 10 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel spoke on Wednesday during the High Level Conference on Economy, Finance and Trade in the framework of the COVID-19, convened by the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America-Treaty of Commerce (ALBA-TCP).
The virtual, on-line video conference was convened by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
Presidents and prime ministers of ALBA member nations are discussing the regional and global economic situation due to the effects of COVID-19, in order to establish criteria and proposals to confront the challenges of the future.
The Venezuelan president presided over the high level virtual conference from Caracas. The conference began with a video address from Alicia Bárcena, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAC.
Participants in the meeting included Miguel Díaz-Canel, President of the Republic of Cuba; Daniel Ortega Saavedra, President of the Republic of Nicaragua; Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda; Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica; and Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Also present were foreign ministers from the member states of the regional bloc: Bruno Rodríguez (Cuba), Jorge Arreaza (Venezuela), and their counterparts from Suriname and Grenada.
