Cuba reports 82 new cases of COVID-19

Havana, September 9 (RHC)—The National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported 82 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours on the island, bringing the cumulative total to 4459 since the beginning of the epidemic

Speaking in the daily briefing on the disease on Wednesday, he noted that almost 8,000 PCR tests were performed, with 7,948 samples, and commended the effort of the molecular biology laboratories.

  “By provinces, of the 82 new cases, 39 are from Havana, Ciego de Avila 37, Santi Spiritus 4, Artemisa and Matanzas, one each.”

Duran added that with these results, Ciego de Avila becomes the province with the highest infection rate per every 100,000 inhabitants, 21,28%, surpassing Havana whose rate currently stands at 20,42.

With Tuesday´s results, 626 active cases remain hospitalized island-wide, of those patients, 1 is in critical and 11 are in serious condition.
