Havana, Oct 22 (RHC) The temporary working group of the Cuban Government for the confrontation and control of COVID-19 met in an extraordinary session on Wednesday to analyze the epidemiological situation in the Western province of Pinar del Río,  which is reporting new infections of the disease in six of its 11 municipalities.

During the meeting,  headed by President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, it was decided to move the western territory back to the epidemic stage in its limited autochthonous transmission phase.

Deputy Prime Minister Roberto Morales Ojeda and the Minister of Public Health José Angel Portal Miranda visited that province. Together with the territory's highest authorities, they comprehensively evaluated the epidemiological scenario to face the disease.

The temporary government working group activated the Provincial Defense Council of Pinar del Río and called on it to take all the measures established for the control of COVID-19.
