Havana, November 2 (RHC)— Cuba's capital resumes Monday the 2019-2020 school year to end the academic cycle interrupted in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Some of the other provinces are beginning the new school year.

According to a radio-television report, five weeks are needed to conclude the school year, and each level of general education has curricular adjustments.

Likewise, the new school year is also beginning in most of the country's provinces, except Pinar del Río (in the west), Ciego de Ávila, and Sancti Spíritus (both in the center), which have experienced a rebound of the new coronavirus.

The territories that do not open Monday will evaluate the extra time they need to comply with the teaching and each school will adjust it to their conditions.

According to the Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez, specialists in the sector participated in elaborating the curricular adaptations for the new academic cycle, complemented with a study plan that includes all educational levels.

Cuba interrupted classes in March, and given the improvement of the epidemiological conditions in many of the territories, the school year was resumed last September.

Most of the island is living the so-called new normality, except for the three provinces with a resurgence of Covid-19 and Havana, which should advance soon. Translated with
