Cuba: COVID-19 contagion continues on the rise, with 431 new cases reported in the last 24 hours

Havana, January 11 (RHC)—The National Director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran reported 431 new patients of COVID-19 on Monday,  illustrating the increasing trend of contagion in the country, which has reached the highest daily records over the last seven days

 

62,9 % of the newly diagnosed individuals were confirmed case contacts, the primary source of infection on the island. Two patients died over the last 24 hours.

 

At present  5815  are hospitalized, of them, 2800 are active cases,  the highest number recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.

 

The provinces with the most cases reported are Havana with 123, Guantanamo with 89, Matanzas with 71, Santiago de Cuba with 51 and Villa Cara with 23.

 

During his morning briefing on national television, Dr. Duran warned that much of the population is not aware of the extent of the rebound, and urged all citizens to strictly follow all the restriction measures.
