Havana, May 30 (RHC) –- Cuba’s Bio-pharmaceutical and Chemical Production Enterprise, LABIOFAM, launched a regional campaign to fight malaria in Western Africa.

The action was announced amidst commemorations for the 39th anniversary of the Economic Community of Western African States (CEDEAO), which is a 15-country regional association founded in May, 1975 following the signing of the Treaty of Lagos and it promotes industrial and commercial integration in that part of Africa.

The Malaria campaign, under the supervision of LABIOFAM, kicked off in Aflao, a town in Ketu South District in the Volta Region on Ghana's Togolese or eastern border, PL news agency reported from Ghanaian capital Accra.

The regional action against Malaria will count on the participation of local communities and will largely use the Cuban larva-control chemicals known as Griselesf and Bactivec.

LABIOFAM develops pharmaceuticals and exports biological larva and rat control products, veterinary medicines, viral and bacterial vaccines along with dietary supplements.
