Reunión sobre la covid del grupo de trabajo temporal.

avana, January  28 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel insisted on Thursday on the need to continue increasing capacities for patients' admission, given the complicated situation the country is facing as a result of Covid-19.

While leading the temporary working group meeting for the control of the SARS Cov-2 coronavirus, which causes the disease, the head of state instructed the Provincial Defense Councils to monitor the care of suspects and confirmed case contacts closely.

He also urged to guarantee the availability of admission of positive cases in hospitals and severe and critical cases in intensive care units.

According to Cuban television, at the meeting, the governor of Havana, Reinaldo García, explained the strategy followed by the capital, which has the second-highest incidence rate of the virus in the country, after Guantánamo.

He informed that the city has 5,114  capacities in isolation centers,  of which 3,783 are occupied and 123 intensive care beds.

The provinces of Villa Clara, Santiago de Cuba, Pinar del Río, Mayabeque, Matanzas, Ciego de Avila, Holguín and Guantánamo also reported on this issue.

Cuba is facing the third peak of the pandemic, and on Thursday reported 666 new cases of Covid-19, four deaths, and 725 medical discharges.
