Havana, June 3 (RHC), – Cuban vice-president, Salvador Valdes Mesa, ratified his government and people’s willingness to further strengthen friendship and cooperation relations with El Salvador, stressing the good prospects for such development now that President-elect, Salvador Sanchez Cerén, of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) has stated his mandate.
The Cuban vice-president, who attended the swearing-in ceremony of Sanchez Ceren on June 1st, noted that the expansion of political and economic links between Cuba and El Salvador will be favored with this administration led by the FMLN.
Valdes Mesa also said that economic cooperation and trade are high on the list of interests of both countries, that seek to expand the current scenario of a few joint projects in education and health care.
The newly appointed president of El Salvador, Salvador Sanchez Ceren, had vowed to consolidate ties between his country and Cuba, during a recent visit to the Caribbean island, when he met with Cuban President Raul Castro and other top government authorities.
