Havana, June 6 (RHC) –- Cuban religious personalities have expressed their solidarity with the cause of the Cuban anti-terrorist fighters who were given unfair prison sentences in the United States. They are considering it as a venerable example of commitment to the well-being of their fellow men.
Theologians, lawyers and member of different religious denominations rejected the injustice made by U.S. authorities against Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino and Antonio Guerrero, three of the five Cubans who were incarcerated after they infiltrated Florida-based violent organizations that planned terrorist actions against Cuba.
Theologian Luis Carlos Marrero stressed the ethical and human factors that have turned the Cuban Five case into a significant event that embodied the Theology of Liberation in Latin America. The Cuban anti-terrorists are an example of those people, who respect and still build justice, said some of the participants in a forum within the Cuban religious community.
Elizabeth Palmeiro, wife of Ramon Labanino expressed her gratefulness for the support given by the religious groups and stressed the fact that a pastoral platform in favor of the Cuban Five was set up to unite believers of different churches in the case.
