Havana, May 19 (RHC)-- The indicators for Covid-19 in Cuba remain unfavorable figures with 1,339 new cases this day and eight deaths due to this cause, informed today the national director of Epidemiology, Francisco Durán.

With the disease spread throughout almost the entire national territory, except in the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, which has not reported contagions for more than 20 days, the Caribbean nation has reached 128,94 diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2, the pathogen that causes the disease, and 834 deaths since March 2020.

Durán pointed out that in the last 15 days, the daily numbers have exceeded a thousand with an average of 1,137 cases, and the incidence rate has risen to 144, 8 per 100,000 inhabitants.

He stated that the most complex situation is evidenced in the autochthonous transmission with 1,255 of all the cases reported on Wednesday, while the number of autochthonous cases is 84.

According to the pandemic forecast models in the country, recently presented by the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Havana, the incidence of patients with Covid-19 should remain high in the coming dates and those admitted to intensive care.

Of the 6,922 patients with the virus still active, 6,794 show a stable clinical evolution, but 89 are seriously ill, and 39 are critical.
