Havana, July 6 (RHC)-- Army General Raul Castro wished Pope Francis, who underwent surgery, a speedy recovery, Cuban media reported on Tuesday.
In a message, he also stressed that 'the peoples need, more than ever, the wisdom and moral authority of the Supreme Pontiff.'
On Twitter, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, also recently pleaded for a rapid improvement of the head of the Catholic Church.
'We rejoice at the news coming from the Vatican about how well he has reacted to the surgery. From Cuba, which admires and respects him, we wish him good health,' the President wrote.
According to the Vatican press office, Francis was operated on on July 4 for diverticular stenosis of the colon.
