Havana, June 24 (RHC) – Cuban legislators will debate crucial aspects of the Cuban economy during the Third Session of the National Assembly, slated for July 5.
The 2013 budget, and estimates for 2014 will also be at the center of discussions by the Cuban deputies during a plenary session, according to the Parliament's Social Communication Office.
The implementation process of the social and economic guidelines adopted by the Communist Party will be examined in detail as well as a report by the country’s General Comptroller.
The presentation of the report was preceded by parliamentary debates at the provincial level, during which lawmakers considered the strengths and weaknesses of internal control and gave their opinions on the issue to enrich the report.
The upcoming plenary session will also analyze the performance of the Cuban economy based on a report to be submitted by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Parliament’s commissions on Economic Issues, Industry, Construction, Food and Agriculture, will convene July 2 and 3 to meet preparatory tasks prior to the plenary session.
Ongoing structural transformations in the two new western provinces of Artemisa and Mayabeque will be analyzed by the legislators as well. A meeting of the Cuban Council of Ministers, on Saturday June 21, whose results will contribute to the economic debate at the Parliament, agreed to propose the extension of the ongoing experimental transformations till December 2016.
