Cuba reports 8636 new COVID-19 infections and 98 deaths

Havana, August 15 (RHC)--Cuban authorities announced Sunday the diagnosis of 8636 new COVID-19 infections and 98 deaths associated with the disease over the last 24 hours.

With the update, the Caribbean island now accumulates 517 719 cases and has surpassed the figure of 4,000 fatalities, reaching 4023.

There were 40 472 confirmed cases hospitalized as of midnight.

The territories with the highest number of infections were Havana with 1071, Cienfuegos 992, Pinar del Rio 873, and Ciego de Avila with 791.
