Cuban President Meets with Belorussian Foreign Minister

 Havana, June 26 (RHC) –- Cuban President Raul Castro has met with visiting Belorussian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei to address the current state of diplomatic relations between both countries.

According to local reporters, the leaders ratified the excellent state of bilateral affairs and highlighted the good prospects for their further strengthening.
Vladimir Makei presented a personal message from the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the Cuban head of state.
 
The meeting with the Cuban president was the culminating activity of Makei's visit to the Caribbean island.  Earlier, the official held a meeting with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez to discuss diplomatic issues.
 
The Belorussian foreign minister also met with the Minister of Industry of Cuba, Salvador Pardo Cruz, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca.  During those meetings, Makei participated in the signing of economic partnership agreements that will bring both countries closer together politically and commercially.
 
Makei arrived in Havana Monday night from Quito, Ecuador, at the head of a delegation of businessmen and bankers.  Last week, he visited Nicaragua.  According to reports, Makei’s trip to Nicaragua, Cuba and Ecuador was made at the express direction of President Aleksandr Lukashenko, “to expand the range of products and geographic diversification of Belorussian export goods, to develop economic cooperation and strengthen the political dialogue.”
