More than new 1,400 economic actors approved in Cuba

Havana, January 13 (RHC)--The Cuban Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) approved 99 new requests for the creation of economic actors, of which 97 are private MSMEs (micro, small and medium-sized enterprises), one state-owned and there is also a non-agricultural cooperative.

In the Telegram platform, the Economic Actors Channel of the Ministry of Economy and Planning informed that 1,471 economic actors had been approved since the process began at the end of September of this year.

The information adds that, of the MSMEs, 1,423 are private, 27 are state-owned, and 21 are cooperatives.

By origin, 58 percent (%) are reconversions of pre-existing businesses, and 42 % correspond to new ventures.

According to the source, it is estimated that these economic actors will generate 23,277 new jobs in the economy.

Of all approved, 78 are part of local development projects, 32 have previously carried out export operations, and nine are hosted by Havana's Science and Technology Park.
