Havana, July 21 (RHC) -- The President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, arrives in Cuba today on an official visit. Cuba is the last leg of his second tour of Latin America and the Caribbean that also included Brazil, Argentina, and Venezuela.

This morning's edition of Granma newspaper reports that during his stay in Havana, the Chinese head of state will hold official talks with Cuban President Raul Castro and carry out other activities.

Xi will arrive in Havana after completing his first official visit to Venezuela, described as historic by the President of that South American country, Nicolas Maduro.

The first stop on the trip of the Chinese president was Brazil, where he attended the Sixth Summit of the BRICS bloc (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), held on July 15th and 16th, which ended with successful results, including the creation of a banking institution for the bloc and a fund for financial emergencies.

While in Brazil, Xi met with chiefs of state and government of the CELAC quartet (Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador and Antigua and Barbuda) and laid the foundations for greater cooperation between the region and the Asian giant.
