Havana, July 15 (RHC)--Several videos are circulating on social networks of a protest in the Pinar del Río municipality of Los Palacios, where residents took to the streets to complain about the blackouts.

According to the Cubadebate website, Osbel Benítez Polo, a local radio worker, published a video where he talked to the President of the Municipal Assembly of Los Palacios, Jose Ramón Cabrera, who gave details of the events.

The reporter acknowledged the veracity of the videos, which show "the discontent of the people."

What happened in the protests in Los Palacios, Cuba? According to the leader, "on Friday afternoon, we had damages to a main cable that feeds the  territory."

Due to the "inclement weather, it was difficult to work on this promptly." "This caused several people to go out in the streets in the evening shouting their disagreements. We accompanied them in the streets and explained the situation to them," Benitez Polo pointed out.

According to the details provided by the local government official, the population "had disagreements, lack of information; they thought it was something atypical."

He also added, "there is a sense of calm and that we spoke with the mothers and fathers and the young people who were there."

Benitez assured us that "we did not have to regret any aggressions." He denied that the police assaulted the protesters and stated that "the people protected us".
