Havana, July 29 (PL-RHC) -- Simon Dieuseul Desras, the President of the Senate and the National Assembly of Haiti, has expressed his appreciation for the solidarity of Cuba with his country and expressed the willingness to strengthen ties between the two parliaments.
During a meeting in Havana on Monday with his Cuban counterpart, Esteban Lazo, he also asserted that the quality of Cuban co-operation to reconstruct Haiti sent an intense social message of hope to the world.
While praising the interest paid by Cuban authorities to the visit, Dieuseul highlighted the willingness to strengthen the friendship between the two parliaments, as institutions hosting deliberations to consolidate democracy.
Lazo reiterated the Cuban peoples' willingness to keep supporting Haiti, based on the full respect for its institutions and legislation, while asserting that in that way, Cubans pay the huge historical debt with Haiti, which staged the first revolution in Latin America and the Caribbean.
