Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia

Havana, Sep 24 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received today at the Palace of the Revolution, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who is on an official visit to the island until tomorrow, Sunday.

The high dignitary of the Southeast Asian country arrived last night in Havana for the promotion of an agenda that included, the laying of a wreath at the monument to National Hero José Martí and talks with the president of the National Assembly, Esteban Lazo.

On September 3, during a visit to that territory by Cuba's First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gerardo Peñalver Portal, the leaders of the Indochinese nation reiterated their sympathy for the Revolution and the will to expand bilateral cooperation.

In that meeting, both sides highlighted the strength of political ties and traditional cooperation in areas such as health, sports, culture, and education, and recalled the dialogue between the current Cambodian prime minister and Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in 1999.

In 2020, the two countries celebrated the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the realization of numerous activities, including photographic exhibitions, documentary screenings, and the cancellation of a commemorative stamp, in a ceremony presided over by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

Cambodia always acknowledges before international organizations its support to the island in confronting the economic, commercial, and financial blockade of the United States for more than six decades and the negative consequences of that genocidal and unilateral measure.
