Havana, October 22 (RHC)-- The Cuban Society of Hygiene and Epidemiology awarded the status of Honorary Member to 30 professionals for their influence in the progress of science.
During the last day of the IV International Convention 'Cuba-Health 2022', which took place at the Havana Convention Palace, José Angel Portal Miranda, Minister of Public Health, received this distinction for his work in confronting medical contingencies.
The recognition of the specialists took place during the VIII Congress of Hygiene and Epidemiology, which was held as part of the Convention's activities, with the presence of 287 participants.
Pedro Mas Bermejo, vice-president of the Cuban Society of Hygiene and Epidemiology, pointed out that the Congress was an opportunity to bring together representatives from all Cuban provinces and countries of the region, to exchange experiences and lay the foundations for future improvement.
He commented that conferences and panels were held on topics such as environmental health in Cuba, climate change, sanitary engineering and sustainable development objectives, health-promoting universities, health literacy, mental health, and addictions.
"The participants had the possibility of incorporating knowledge from other territories in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East, based on wide-ranging debates and presentations on the best international experiences," said the doctor.
