Cuba to Participate in 2015 Exhibition in Milan

Havana, August 7 (RHC) -– The Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba confirmed the island’s attendance to the Milan 2015 World Expo, to be held next year from May 1st through October 31st in that Italian city.

Expo 2015 is the next scheduled Universal Exposition after Expo 2012, and the theme chosen for this year is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.” This embraces technology, innovation, culture, traditions and creativity and how they relate to food and diet.

Executives of the Chamber of Commerce told the press that the Cuban pavilion will occupy an area of 250 square meters. The meeting will allow the island to display its advances in terms of food security.

Miriam Martinez, Director for Fairs of the institution, pointed out that in Milan, Cuba will present projects to increase agricultural and livestock production and improve their distribution, and highlighted the interest in sharing with other nations the experiences of Cuban cooperatives and farmers in their eagerness to obtain food security and independence from imports.

In a meeting with diplomats from the Italian embassy to Havana and members of the Italy-Cuba Business Committee, executives said that other topics to be promoted at the fair will be the possibilities by the Cuban food industry to foreign investors.

Italy’s ambassador to Cuba, Carmine Robustelli, said that the Exhibition can offer numerous opportunities for business and cooperation to the island.
