18th International Meeting of Heritage Cities

Havana, Nov 17 (RHC) Cuba exhibit today its results in the management of cities during the 18th International Meeting of Heritage Cities, which is being held here under the premise of the exchange of practices and experiences with professionals from Italy and Mexico.

On its second day, the event welcomes the presentation of the Accessibility Plan for Old Havana, by the specialist of the Office of the Historian Eugenio Casanova.

It also highlights the participation of renowned international organizations such as the National Association of Heritage Cities of Mexico, the group of Heritage Cities of Spain, and the National Association of Historic and Artistic Centers in Italy (Ancsa).

These are related entities in Ibero-America and Europe that have been working with our Network of Historian and Conservator Offices for several years to create strategies for the future, the coordinator Arsenio Sanchez told Prensa Latina.

Ancsa vice-president Stefano Storchi will speak on the convergence between heritage, accessibility, and urban identity when he will share the example of Venice declared a treasure of humanity since 1987 and one of the most appreciated in the European urban world map.

For her part, Loredana Montes, general director of Mexico's Historic Downtown Trust, will showcase her country's perspectives in the field of heritage and its close ties with the wide range of cities it hosts.

The event, which will end its sessions tomorrow, provides access to the exchange of knowledge on the challenges of the heritage sector that seeks to create protection networks for heritage cities.
