Cuban and Belarusian Parliaments sign collaboration agreement

Havana, Dec 5 (RHC) The president of the National Assembly of People's Power, Esteban Lazo, signed an interparliamentary collaboration agreement in Minsk with his counterparts from the European nation to expand and strengthen ties between the legislative bodies of Cuba and Belarus.

 

On the Belarusian side, the document was signed by the heads of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Belarusian Parliament, Vladimir Andreichenko and Natalia Kachanova, respectively.

 

Before the ceremony, both parties held a working meeting at the headquarters of the legislative body in which they discussed issues of bilateral interest, agreed on the need to raise economic and commercial relations at the level of the excellent political ties and reiterated the relevance of parliamentary ties in achieving this endeavor.

 

Later, Vladimir Andreichenko and Natalia Kachanova accompanied Esteban Lazo on a tour of the legislative precinct and its plenary hall.

 

The work program in Minsk continued with the laying of a wreath by the head of the Cuban Parliament in the capital's Victory Square, as a tribute of our country's delegation to the soldiers of the Soviet Army and the Belarusian partisans who fought against the Nazis.

 

In the afternoon, Lazo Hernandez met with Acting Foreign Minister Sergey Aleinik and Evgeny Shestakov, co-chairman of the Cuban-Belarusian Intergovernmental Commission for economic-commercial collaboration.

The President of the National Assembly thanked the support and solidarity received from the Belarusian government, parliament, and people in the fight against the economic, commercial and, financial blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba, and also during the confrontation with the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

He highlighted the existing potentialities in terms of cooperation in the context of the Eurasian Economic Union, where Cuba has been an observer member since last year; at the same time, he ratified the willingness to expand and strengthen ties in the parliamentary sphere.

 

Finally, he explained to the distinguished visitor the intense legislative activity deployed after the proclamation of the Constitution of the Republic in 2019 and other aspects of national current affairs.

 

Esteban Lazo's visit reflects the deep friendship that exists between Belarus and Cuba, and it will give an additional boost to the brotherly relations between the two peoples (Source: ACN).
