Havana, December 10 (Prensa Latina)-- President Miguel Díaz-Canel today urged the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) to perfect its work at the forefront of the correct implementation of actions aimed at the country's socioeconomic development.
Delivering the conclusions of the Fifth Plenary Session of that political body, held at the Havana Convention Palace in the presence of Army General Raúl Castro, the first secretary of that organization stressed its role as the vanguard of society, in the face of economic and social problems.
Díaz-Canel also pointed out the importance of the work carried out by mass organizations and other civil society associations, which participate in confronting the U.S. economic war and the brutal psychological campaign promoted by the United States to subvert the revolutionary process on the island.
We also resist hard blows of nature, and those produced by our mistakes, but without bending our knees or giving up the dream of prosperity, he said.
He affirmed that the work of the PCC, the dedication of its militancy, and the heroic nature of the Cuban people, made it possible to face such complex circumstances as those derived from the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as accidents of great magnitude.
The President urged to strengthen the internal control of the PCC over plans and processes, without undermining the responsibility of the organs of People's Power and the Comptroller General of the Republic, among other institutions and agencies.
He pointed out that Cubans understand and face the adversary's attack, but "that resistance may falter and creativity is recent when the people collide with bureaucracy, idleness, corruption of certain intermediate layers that fish in the troubled river of difficulties putting obstacles where solutions go".
He pointed out that the current situation of the country is complex and difficult, and this is being taken advantage of by the adversary to achieve his purpose, for which he called for unity, determination and creativity to face the difficulties.
He also pointed out that, faced with the rise to power of progressive forces in Latin America, the regional and international right wing is promoting all kinds of actions.
He urged the PCC to make its work more effective through self-control and popular empowerment through various channels, which, he said, does not detract from its nature as a vanguard organization. On the contrary, it reinforces it, he assured.
Días-Canel also highlighted the role of the youth in the defense of the political system chosen by the nation, and recalled that an expression of that commitment is the crucial role played by them in dealing with the damages caused by climatic events and accidents occurred on the island.
