Buenos Aires, August 12 (RHC)-- Argentinian political activist Atilio Borón says the U.S. government is trying to subvert Cuba and other countries with which it doesn't agree.

In a statement published by “Página 12” daily newspaper and reproduced on social networks, Borón said Cuba's sovereignty was violated by the plan carried out by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) using an NGO based in Costa Rica.

The outstanding intellectual added that this covert operation, which began in 2009 and was recently unveiled by the Associated Press news agency, consisted of sending a group of Venezuelan, Peruvian and Costa Rican young people to Cuba as tourists, to promote domestic subversion among Cuban youth.

Borón stated that U.S. law strongly punishes any activity of this type in U.S. territory by the order of a foreign government.
