Havana, Dec 12 (RHC) A container with educational and health materials was loaded in Spain to be sent to Cuba, sponsored by the State Solidarity Movement (MESC), of that European country.
According to Prensa Latina news agency on Monday, the solidarity aid is valued at 74,000 euros and will be used to support several projects in the province of Santiago de Cuba, in the eastern part of the Caribbean Island.
According to the information, the container will be shipped from the port of Bilbao to Cuba on December 19.
It adds that the materials will be used to adapt educational spaces, improve facilities and provide equipment to produce food in Santiago's educational centers such as the Pepito Tey kindergarten, the Van Troy elementary school, and the Eliseo Reyes special school.
The load was financed by different State Solidarity Movement associations, such as the Hispano-Cuban Association of Malaga, Euskadi-Cuba, Medicuba España, Ernesto Guevara of Torrejón de Ardoz and the Valencian Association of Friendship with Cuba José Martí.
Likewise, educational and health materials donated by individuals and institutions such as the town hall of Alfàs del Pi, in Alicante, were also collected.
According to the note, personnel from the Cuban embassy in Spain participated in the preparation of the shipment, together with solidarity activists.
This shipment is part of the campaign launched this year under the name "Tons of solidarity against the U.S. blockade of Cuba", which the MESC said will continue throughout 2023. (Source: ACN).
