Freedom Caravan in Santiago de Cuba
Santiago de Cuba, Jan 2 (RHC) A representation of young people and children commemorated Monday the Caravan of Freedom on the 64th anniversary of the historic journey from Santiago de Cuba to Havana, led by Fidel Castro after the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
José Solar, the combatant of the Rebel Army, expressed the pride of seeing how the new generations remember this date and their latent commitment to continue the revolutionary work.
He recalled how on this day, in 1959, Cubans took to the streets with great euphoria, shouts, and slogans to Fidel and the barbudos for the victory over the bloody tyranny of Fulgencio Batista and Yankee imperialism.
Lisbeth Ramírez, provincial secretary of the UJC, said that re-editing this event every year demonstrates the commitment of the youth of Santiago to history and confirms that we are a continuity.
She highlighted the role of young people in every task, who fight a strong ideological battle in the social networks and prepare themselves every day to contribute to the economic and social development of the largest of the Antilles from every job.
