The triumph of the Cuban Revolution was celebrated in the middle of the Vietnam jungle

Hanoi, Jan 5 (RHC) - At the site that to this day commemorates the existence of the Cuban embassy, in the middle of the jungle, before the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam, representatives of the official mission and Cubans residing in the south of this Indochinese nation, commemorated the 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Rebel Army, led by Fidel Castro.

The simple ceremony, held the day before, was also attended by representatives of the Communist Party, the Union of Friendship Organizations of Tay Ninh, and other southern provinces such as Ben Tre and Tra Vinh, as well as members of the Giron 261 Battalion of the Armed Forces Popular South Vietnamese.

Both the general director of the provincial Department of International Relations, Nguyen Vang Hon, and the Cuban consul in Ho Chi Minh City, Ariadne Feo Labrada, ratified the common will to continue strengthening political, economic, and solidarity ties that unite both countries.

The Cuban diplomat also appreciated that 2022 was "a successful year in terms of bilateral relations, whose ties were able to grow in all spheres and resume exchanges of visits in both directions."

In this sense, she highlighted the stay in Vietnam and, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, of the Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, which made it possible to reaffirm the solidarity, mutual support, and comprehensive cooperation existing between both nations.

Established on March 4, 1969, Cuba was the first embassy accredited to the National Liberation Front (FNL) of South Vietnam at a time when, according to the head of that diplomatic mission, Raúl Valdés Vivó, the Vietnamese patriots were advancing from victory to victory.

The fact was valued than by the president of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the FNL, Nguyen Huu Tho, as a "noble manifestation of the approval and vigorous and unconditional support granted by the Communist Party, the revolutionary Government and the heroic people of Cuba" to the just cause defended by the Front.
