United Nations, January 13 (RHC)-- The head of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Csaba Korösi, today assured that Cuba's presidency of the G77+China will be successful in demanding a fairer global order.

"Listening to the priorities that the Caribbean nation has outlined is very encouraging, I hope that progress can be made and I count on its leadership", said Korösi during the ceremony of change of presidency of the bloc, delivered by Pakistan to Cuba, held the day before.

The diplomat called for the unity of the member countries to face the current challenges of the global financial system.

"Unite to achieve the changes that your countries need the most", emphasized the representative, who described Cuba's presidency as a good opportunity in that sense.

At the same time, he called for defending the Sustainable Development Goals and a fairer order from the grouping, considered the broadest and most diverse space for consensus-building in the multilateral sphere.

In this regard, he recalled the challenges facing the planet in the face of Covid-19, conflicts and natural disasters, as well as their impact on national and global economies.

If we work and focus on crisis management and transformation goals we can achieve good results by September 2023, he added.

"I am confident that I can count on G77+China to get the world back on the path of transformation," he added.

Cuba assumed this Thursday for the first time the presidency of the Group of 77 plus China with the will to work on the common objectives of the countries that make up this bloc of political agreement, according to the president of the Caribbean country, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

Cuba will promote South-South and triangular cooperation as a more effective instrument, particularly support for the post-pandemic recovery of developing nations, said Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez.

In addition, it will promote full compliance with the responsibility of industrialized countries in the support, through North-South cooperation, and will encourage the advancement of common positions among members.
